'Regrettably your card has been declined'. I booked an Air Asia
flight in January with no problems, so they must have changed or
tweaked their system since then

Forgot to add: Resolved the issue by using
my debit card with a visa logo from the same US bank which
worked like a charm on the airasia website. Debit cards work like
cash and do not charge the seller. The negative for me was
loosing the travel accident insurance provided free by my credit
card Decided to burn some cell phone minutes and call air
asia from the US. The guy seemed helpful, I thought we were getting
somewhere until he asked me the name of my bank. I told him, he
mumbled something and disconnected the call!
Following Sam's advice in the previous posts,(2009-06-18
09:36:50) I gave my Debit card
(same bank) a try. It went straight through immediately,
didn't even have to go through the 'verified by visa' page. I
checked my account later and it looks like I get a better exchange
rate through the debit card. The big downside is that you lose the
purchase protection of a credit card. Why doesn't air asia just
release the list of banks that they won't accept credit cards from,
it would make things much easier for everyone --- Have you tried
paying with a debit/ATM card? That's the only way I can buy air asia
tickets online now. I have tried booking other flights since making
my original post and the results are always the same. My credit card
is automatically rejected by air asia BEFORE they even attempt to
make the charge (my bank verified this). My debit card on the other
hand (same bank) works every time
